Desired Character: Ernie Macmillan, Hufflepuff
Portrayed by: Russell Tovey.
Physical Appearance: Ernie is a broadly built, but in a way that does not indicate physical prowess or athletic ability - he is "soft". He has light brown hair, blue eyes, and is about 5'6" (for now).

Personality Summary: Ernie is an affable young man, though he can come off a bit pretentious when he boasts about how focused he is on his studies and how seriously he takes the responsibilities of school. Frivolous adventures and unnecessary socializing (ie. Dating) aren't really his thing, though he does have a soft spot for Hannah Abbott. He is blunt, loyal, and a good person to have on your side - a Hufflepuff through and through.
Brief History: The Macmillans are an extremely old pureblood family, tracing their ancestry back nine generations. Ernie understands how rare purebloods are becoming, but he isn't pompous about it and definitely does not discriminate against half-bloods or Muggle-borns. He led a comfortable, upper-middle class life before Hogwarts, where he met his best friends Hannah Abbott and Justin Finch-Fletchley, whom he stuck up for their second year when Muggle-borns were being attacked.

Sample: Ah, the Hogwarts Express. It was dependable, strong, and prompt - all admirable qualities that I looked for in both machines and people. There were fewer and fewer people one could really trust these days, and I made sure to remain loyal to my true comrades. It was troubling times like these that made me even more proud to be a Hufflepuff; there would never be a traitor or questionable soul in my House, that was for sure. The scandalous nature of the events at the Quidditch World Cup still made the hairs on the back of my head stand up. As I pulled my trunk along the platform, I welcomed the feeling of comfort that always accompanied the trip back to Hogwarts. There was no safer place in the world I was sure, especially with Albus Dumbledore as Headmaster. He was a good man, that Dumbledore.

I kept an eye out for Justin Finch-Fletchley and Hannah Abbott, my two best friends. Finding a compartment with them and a few other Hufflepuffs would be an excellent way to start the year, and after seeing some suspicious-looking Slytherins amble aboard the train I was eager to make sure there was an empty one for us. I shook my head slightly as I tried to imagine what new story Justin would have from his summer at home with his Muggle family. He was always going on about space and rocket ships and something called Star Trek, which was fascinating and perplexing at the same time. Though, that Scotty character did seem like a good, trustworthy spirit.

I saw no sign of Justin or Hannah on the platform, so I made my way onto the train in the hopes that they were there already. The Express waited for no one and I sincerely hoped they hadn't lost their punctuality over the summer break. I waved to friendly faces and exchanged pleasantries with my classmates as I walked the aisles, but still did not find the two I was looking for. I found an empty compartment and made a tsk-ing sound to myself as I lifted my trunk (Lift with your knees, Ern. WITH YOUR KNEES.) into the overhead and made myself comfortable. We would find each other soon enough, and then this year would really begin.
